After a long search for a AM 425 engine can anybody help with the exhaust system are there 2 boxes before the side pipe?

Sorry, I don't understand the question... the gaz goes out of the engine by a box (échangeurs ) on the right and on the left, to the expansion chamber (pot de détente, bête à cornes for 2cv wink ), one for each side because one cylinder head on each side... is that the answer?..

Hello,

I think (quite sure) that on 425 cc engines, there's no rear exhaust part; The exhaust system is quite simple, two pipes running from the cylinder heads to one only expansion chamber at the left side under the engine. There are no boxes nor heat exchange boxes that fit over the exhaust pipes on 435 and 602 M type engines, and no so called "bête à cornes" (a sort of bullhead shaped chamber with two symmetrical inlets and an outlet to the under-floor expansion and silencer chamber, referenced as "3" in the upper image from previous post)....

I actually have the famous "bête à cornes" underneath the gearbox, and the cigar shaped muffler along the right (!) side of the frame.
On some minitruck there might be no rear muffler, but I'm not sure of anything on that part.

Hello on the 425cc you have a 5 part exhaust:
1) a tube looping around the engine from top on the manifold to front of the fan housing to bottom bellow the gearbox .
2) it then comes in a first muffler (you can empty it without too much added noise if any): it is a cylinder attached below the gearbox and its exit is on the passanger side of the car (right side).
3) an intermediate tube going from the engine bay to the underneath of the car
4) a second silencer (a long cigar like tube n°3 on second image)
5) an exit tube, either short (comes out before the back wheel) or long (goes under the car to the driver side and exit below the rear bumper)

In conclusion : NO their is only one box before the side. the exhaust is the same that an 425cc AZU.

Beware, the linking collar are different size compared to the 602 or 435 cc linkage.

Oui ! 435 -> échappement à échangeur pour le chauffage qui passe par le dessus +2 deux entrées 1 sortie pour la bête à corne
425 -> par le dessous + 1 entrée 1 sortie pour la bête à corne

Le passage du 425cc au 435cc c'est le passage du "vieux modèle" au "nouveau modèle" de moteur (avec le nouveau circuit de graissage sans Banjo, nouveau radia, ect...)
